In March 1944, Germany developed and put into practical use a glide bomb guided by radio signals from an aircraft, which sank the Italian battleship Roma as it sailed toward the Allied forces, and continued to achieve success thereafter. The Allied forces received and recorded the radio signals during the bombing raids (ESM), and developed a jamming device to counter them, rendering the glide bomb ineffective. …
