A large river that flows east through the southern Tibet Autonomous Region of China and is the middle and upper reaches of the Brahmaputra River. It originates in Lake Manasarovar and forms a tectonic valley between the Himalayas and the Trans-Himalayan ranges. Its total length in China is about 1,787 km.
