About 230 species are known from around the world, including the moon jellyfish, the red jellyfish (illustration), the Andon jellyfish, and the Octopus jellyfish. The umbrella is disc-shaped or hemispherical, and is made of a thick gelatinous gelatinous medium. The large Nomura's jellyfish can reach an umbrella diameter of over 1m and weigh up to 150kg.
