…He died at about age 18 after nine years of reign, and was buried in a hastily prepared tomb (Tomb 62) in the Valley of the Kings. The tomb, discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter (1873-1939), is unusually small, with a short staircase and corridor leading to four chambers: an antechamber, an annexe, an antechamber, and a treasury. The murals are only in the antechamber. The large number of grave goods, including the four-tiered altar, the stone sarcophagus, and the mummy of the king wearing a gold mask placed in a triple mummy-shaped coffin, remain almost intact, making it the only royal tomb in the Valley of the Kings that has escaped looting, and a valuable resource for learning about the burial customs of the pharaohs at that time. …
