Kawajiri Seitan

Japanese: 川尻清潭 - かわじりせいたん

1876-1954 A theater critic from the Meiji to Showa periods.
Born August 1, 1876. Adopted son of Kawajiri Hokin. Contributed records of forms and discussion of the art to "Kabuki" led by Miki Takeji, and later wrote for "Engei Gaho" and other publications. Became head of the auditor's office at the Tokyo Kabukiza in 1925. Died December 14, 1954, aged 78. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Commercial School. His given name was Yoshitoyo. His other pen name was Boroan. His works include "Backstage Bath."

明治9年8月1日生まれ。川尻宝岑(ほうきん)の養子。三木竹二主宰の「歌舞伎」に型の記録や芸談を寄稿,のち「演芸画報」などに執筆した。大正14年東京歌舞伎座監事室室長。昭和29年12月14日死去。78歳。東京出身。商業素修学校卒。名は義豊。別号に忘路庵。著作に「楽屋風呂」など。
