...The Miura Peninsula has a continuous geological structure, consisting of several rows of ridge mountains caused by faults running east to west, and is divided by grabens such as the Nagasa Plain and the Tateyama Plain along the Kamo River. It is roughly divided into the Kazusa Hills in the north, which slope north from the mountain range of Nokogiriyama (330m) and Kiyosumiyama (383m), which form the main watershed between Awa and Kazusa, and the Awa Hills in the south, which include Atagoyama (408m), the highest peak in the prefecture. Both are low mountains of 300 to 400m, but they show their mature mountain forms, and the scenery of the Tsukumo Valley, an eroded valley southeast of Kanoyama in the north, and the Osenkorogashi fault cliffs on the Pacific coast are magnificent. *Some of the terms mentioned in the "Kazusa Hills" are explained below.
