This gold mine was owned by the Takeda clan in Kai Province during the Sengoku period. It was the core of the Koshu Gold Mine and was located in the mountains of Mount Keikan in the northern part of Enzan City, Yamanashi Prefecture (now Koshu City). Excavations have revealed that the mining town of Kurokawa Sengen began in the first half of the 16th century, prospered until the beginning of the 17th century, and although it later shrank, continued to be operated until the end of the 17th century. It was managed by a class of local samurai known as the Kanayama-shu, who worked in the mines with their subordinates, but also participated in battles as military servicemen.
