Earth radiation

Radiation emitted by the atmosphere or the earth's surface. Most of it is infrared radiation with wavelengths longer than 4 μm. The ground and atmosphere are heated by solar radiation, but at the same time are cooled by infrared radiation, so they maintain a heat balance. 95% of the radiation from the earth's surface is absorbed by the atmosphere, and 64% of the radiation emitted by the atmosphere is absorbed by the earth's surface, with the remaining 5% and 36%, respectively, escaping into the atmosphere.
