Kasama Castle Town

During the Edo period, Kasama was a castle town of a fudai daimyo (feudal lord), with samurai residences located in Tamachi and Owada, surrounding the castle at Sashiroyama. The town houses lined the main road in Otemae, and outside of them were the residences of foot soldiers and minor officials.
