Japanese: カメノテ(亀の手) - カメノテ（英語表記）Mitella mitella

A small crustacean of the Cirripedidae family (illustration). It is very commonly found growing in colonies attached to rock crevices in the intertidal zone of rocky coasts south of Honshu. It is named after its yellow, elongated triangular palm with a finger-like shell and a dark wrist, which at first glance resembles a turtle's paw. It is widely distributed from Honshu to the Malay Peninsula. Most bodies are about 3-4 cm in size and are divided into a head and a stalk. The head is flat and triangular, yellow, sometimes yellowish brown or yellowish green.

蔓脚（まんきやく）亜綱ミョウガガイ科の小型甲殻類（イラスト）。本州以南の岩礁海岸の潮間帯の岩の割れ目などに固着，群生し，きわめてふつうに見られる。黄色い長三角形，指状にも見える殻をつけた掌に暗色の手首をつけた，一見亀の手のような形に見えるのでこの名がある。本州からマレー半島まで広く分布する。体は3～4cmくらいの大きさのものが多く，頭状部と柄部に分かれている。頭部は扁平な三角形状，黄色，ときに黄褐色または黄緑色を帯びる。
