Expanding net plate

...When hauling a net, it is most efficient to haul it over as wide an area as possible, so the opening must be wide enough. There are several ways to do this. The first is to use a widening net, as in otter trawl and plank seine. The second is towed by two boats, and the second is to stretch a wooden or iron bar across the opening, or to attach a frame called a girder, as used in beam trawl and girder nets.
