A large sailing ship used as a Spanish military and trading ship from the 16th to 19th centuries. The foremast and mainmast have two or three square sails, and the mizzenmast has a forked sail called a latein sail. The deck has three or four layers. It is said that this type of ship was created by lowering the forecastle of the carrack used in Spain and England in the 15th and 16th centuries, making it easier to sail upwind. This was the achievement of the Englishman Hawkins in 1570, and it is said that this was introduced to Spain 17 years later.
