Extended Wetting

…Wetting agents are surfactants that have a particularly large orientation to the solid-liquid interface, and an appropriate structure is selected according to the polarity of the system. In general, wetting is classified into (1) spreading wetting, in which a liquid comes into contact with a solid surface and spreads out, (2) adhesion wetting, in which the liquid phase attached to the solid surface is removed from the interface, and (3) immersion wetting, in which the liquid penetrates into the pores of the solid phase. If the contact angle θ between the solid and liquid phases is less than 180 degrees, adhesion wetting occurs; if it is less than 90 degrees, immersion wetting occurs; and if θ = 0, spreading wetting occurs. …

…湿潤剤は界面活性剤の一つであるが，とくに固液界面に対する配向性の大きいもので，系の極性に応じて適当な構造のものが選ばれる。一般に湿潤は，(1)固体表面に液体が接触し，これがぬれ広がるようにする拡張湿潤，(2)固体表面に付着した液相を界面から取り去っていく付着湿潤，(3)固相細孔中に液体が浸透していく浸漬湿潤，に分類される。そして固液両相の接触角θが180度より小さくなるようならば付着湿潤が，90度より小さい場合は浸漬湿潤が，またθ＝0の場合は拡張湿潤が起こる。…
