［History］
The prefecture's territory was formerly Mutsu Province, and after the division of the provinces during the Meiji period, it covered most of Rikuzen Province and the northern part of Iwaki Province, and during the Edo period it was the territory of the Date clan of the Sendai Domain with a 620,000 koku landholding.
