Born in the second year of the Koji era. He studied under Kozen of the Kaju-ji temple and Shoken of the Daigo-ji temple. Influenced by Kozen, he began to collect pictorial materials. He investigated materials from Daigo-ji temple, Kanju-ji temple, Koyasan temple, and other places until around 1213, and wrote the Kakuzensho. His pen name was Kintaibo.
