Kakuzen - Kakuzen
1143-? A monk from the late Heian to Kamakura period.
Born in the second year of the Koji era. He studied under Kozen of the Kaju-ji temple and Shoken of the Daigo-ji temple. Influenced by Kozen, he began to collect pictorial materials. He investigated materials from Daigo-ji temple, Kanju-ji temple, Koyasan temple, and other places until around 1213, and wrote the Kakuzensho. His pen name was Kintaibo. He was commonly known as Shonagon Ajari.

康治(こうじ)2年生まれ。勧修(かじゅう)寺の興然,醍醐(だいご)寺の勝賢に師事。興然の影響をうけ,図像資料を収集。建暦(けんりゃく)3年(1213)のころまで醍醐寺,勧修寺,高野山などの資料を調査し,「覚禅鈔」をあらわした。字(あざな)は金胎房。通称は少納言阿闍梨。
