[raw]? [Died] 1355 A general of the Red Turban army in the late Yuan dynasty. Born in Dingyuan (Anhui province). His father, Guo Gong, was a fortune teller who had migrated from Caozhou (Shandong), and his mother was the daughter of a wealthy man but blind. Zixing was their second son. He was a bossy man, and regularly spent his own money to make friends with visiting warriors. When the Red Turban army rose up in revolt at the end of the Yuan dynasty, Zixing responded by gathering several thousand warriors and raising an army in 1352, occupying Haozhou (Anhui) and defeating the Yuan army, earning himself the title of marshal. Zhu Yuanzhang (Emperor Hongwu of the Ming dynasty), the first emperor of the Ming dynasty, distinguished himself as one of his subordinates, and took Zixing's adopted daughter (Ma Gongnu) as his wife. Zixing died of an illness in the camp of Zhangzhou (Anhui), and was given the title of King of Chuyang by the first emperor.
