Ichinomiya, Kaga Province

...It is located in Tsurugi-machi, Ishikawa-gun, Ishikawa Prefecture. Its predecessor was Kaga Bamba, one of the routes to the sacred mountain Hakusan that was established at the latest by the beginning of the 9th century. Currently, according to the shrine's tradition, it enshrines three deities: Kukurihime, Izanagi, and Izanami, but the original chief deity was Hakusan Hime (the theory that it was Kukurihime has been the mainstream since the Kamakura period), and Hakusan is the sacred mountain. It is a small shrine listed in the Engishiki, and its divine rank rose to Junior Third Rank in 853 (Jinju 3) and Senior Third Rank in 859 (Jogan 1), making it the Ichinomiya of Kaga Province. ...
