Karakdong Historic Site (English name)

Japanese: 可楽洞遺跡 - からくどういせき（英語表記）Karakdong

Located in Garak-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea, this is a representative settlement site from the Plain Pottery (Bronze Age) period in the central region of the west coast. It is located on one of the low hills in the Garak-dong area, on the backbone of a mountain at an altitude of about 40m. Excavations in 1963 uncovered the remains of a large, flat, rectangular pit dwelling measuring 10m east to west and 7m north to south. Excavated artifacts include ground stone tools such as stone sickles, stone arrowheads, and stone awls, as well as plain pottery. What made this site famous was the discovery of a combination of plain pottery such as jars and jars.

大韓民国ソウル特別市江南区可楽洞にあって，西海岸中部地方における無文土器(青銅器)時代の代表的集落遺跡。可楽洞一帯の低い丘陵地の一つで，標高約40mの山の脊梁部に立地する。1963年の発掘調査によって，東西10m･南北7mの大型で，平面長方形の竪穴式住居跡が検出された。出土遺物には，石鎌，石鏃，石錐などの磨製石器と無文土器がある。この遺跡を著名にしたのは，壺と甕など無文土器の組合せがわかったことである。
