Metal chelates

...A piece of paper is soaked in this to make a pH test strip. Chelating reagents, used in the analysis and separation of metal ions, react selectively with a specific metal or group of metals to form a complex (metal chelate). If the complex is insoluble in water, the metal is separated as a precipitate, which is then weighed to determine the amount of metal (precipitating reagent).
