...Late geographical works include Noda Shigekata's "Urami Kanwa" (1752) and Hagiwara Motokatsu's "Kai Meisho-shi" (1783), but the most basic historical material is the "Kai Kokushi" (Kai Kokushi), which was started in 1806 by the shogunate and completed in 1814. Other works include Omori Kaian's "Kai Soki" (1848) and Miyamoto Sadamasa's "Kai no Tefuri" (1850). The total population of the four Kai counties changed from 291,168 in 1721 (Kyoho 6) to 305,934 in 1886 (Tenmei 6) and 360,068 in 1872 (Meiji 5)....

…The compilation of the 123 volumes of the Kai Kokushi, which the head of the main guard, Matsudaira Sadayoshi, began under the orders of the shogunate, took eight years to complete in the 14th year of the Bunka era (11th year of the Bunka era), and is well known as a geography book of Kai Province. Other well-known works include Urami Kanwa (1752 preface) by guard Noda Shigekata and Kai no Teburi (1850) by Miyamoto Sadamasa. The guards and guards played a major role in the introduction of Edo culture and the development of literature in Kai, but in later periods, the posting to Kofu was seen as a convenient form of exile, or “mountain drifting.” …
