...Pakarena is a female ensemble dance accompanied by gongs, drums, bamboo percussion instruments and straw horns, and is the most traditional and sophisticated of Sulawesi's dances.

Due to the influence of Christian church music, not many ancient songs remain in the Maluku Islands, but in the southeastern part of the islands there are songs called Tan Laing or Kapata, which are used to pass on history and customs. Polyphonic choral singing is also known.
