The title of the project was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, evocative of Atomic Monster Appears. This huge success gave birth to a Toho special effects series in which a stuffed monster crushes a miniature city. In America, Godzilla, King of the Monsters was released and became a hit, with additional scenes starring Raymond Burr re-edited and the top and bottom of the screen cut off to create a Cinemascope print.
