Kaizu Higashihama

Lake transportation with Otsu and Katata in the south of the lake was opened early on, and it was known as a key port in the north of the lake. Historical documents from the Middle Ages refer to "ten villages on Kaizu Higashihama, eleven villages on Kaizu Nishihama" and "Kaizu Higashi(hama)sho, Kaizu Nishi(hama)sho." Kaizu Higashihama is the present-day Kaizu, and Kaizu Nishihama is the present-day Nishihama, and it seems that this area was called Kaizusho. …
