Hayashiya Shozo" and left behind four kusazoshi (stories of ghost stories), including "The Strange Tale of Katsura River Waves" (1835) and "The Ghost Tale of Spring Chicks" (1838). When he died, he asked to be cremated, and the story goes that fireworks set off on his coffin frightened visitors, which seems to suggest he was the originator of ghost stories. ...
