Ghost of Oiwa - Ghost of Oiwa

...With Amachi Shigeru as Tamiya Iemon and Wakasugi Kazuko as Oiwa, this is thought to be the only film with the same title as Tsuruya Nanboku's original work, and together with Daiei's Yotsuya Kaidan, directed by Misumi Kenji and starring Hasegawa Kazuo and Nakata Yasuko, which was released at the same time, it was the first color widescreen "Yotsuya Kaidan" film. This was followed by Toei's Ghost of Oiwa (1961), directed by Kato Tai, which portrayed a human tragedy of the common people in a realistic way, with Wakayama Tomisaburo as Tamiya Iemon and Fujishiro Yoshiko as Oiwa. Other postwar works include Yotsuya Kaidan (1965), directed by Toyoda Shiro and starring Okada Mariko, and Yotsuya Kaidan: Ghost of Oiwa (1969), directed by Mori Issei and starring Inano Kazuko.
