…In Japan, there is a tendency to focus only on the form of the opening and closing phrases when talking about the form of folktales, but it would be better to think of it as the same meaning as style in music or art. In the study of the style of folktales, the first to be proposed (1909) was Axel Olrik of Denmark, who proposed the law of repetition, the priority of the front in the opening and the back in the development, the sacred number three, the unity of the scene, and the law of introduction and stillness. Later, after World War II, Max Lüthi of Switzerland came to propose the one-dimensionality, flatness, abstract style, purification and universality, and the possibility of isolation and universal connection in folktales (1949). …
