Japanese: 明和伎鑑 - めいわぎかん

Kabuki information. Written by Omi Sanmaro, real name Kurimoto Hyogo. Published in 1769 (Meiwa 6). One small book. The contents could be described as a comprehensive directory of people related to theaters. For actors, it lists their names, pen names, stage names, crests, addresses, and reviews, as well as family trees and brief biographies. The latter half of the book comprehensively lists the names and addresses of over 700 people related to theaters, including teahouse owners, ranking publishers, kyogen composers, musicians, gatekeepers, and fire-rope sellers. As well as being a theater directory, it is also a theater guide for amateurs, and is the earliest publication of its kind in the Edo period.

歌舞伎資料。淡海三麿，本名栗本兵庫作。1769年(明和6)刊。小本1冊。内容は劇場関係者の総名簿ともいうべきもの。役者については名前，俳名，屋号，紋，住所，評価などをのせ，系図，略伝に及ぶ。後半に茶屋，番付板元，狂言作者，囃子方，木戸番，火縄売りなど劇場関係者700名余りの名前と居所を網羅掲載している。劇場名鑑であるとともに，素人向けの芝居案内書でもあり，江戸におけるこの種の出版物としては最も早いもの。
