Olmec Style

The Olmec culture in Mesoamerica created a unique style of expression in stone carvings, pottery, jade and serpentine sculptures. The influence of the Olmec style led to the development of local cultures in various regions, but the influence of the Olmec style was particularly strong in the south, where it led to Classic Maya art through the Izapa style. Meanwhile, in the highlands, the Teotihuacan and Monte Alban cultures each developed their own unique art styles.
