...Leaves do not burn in a little shade, and beautiful foliage can be enjoyed. Closely related and multi-flowering species include C. sinense (Andr.) Willd. and C. ensifolium (L.) Sw., both of which are found in warmer areas of western Kyushu and further south than the canary. Also, C. × nishiuchiana Makino, a presumed natural hybrid of the canary and the spring orchid, is known from Kochi Prefecture.

… This breeding method was first practiced in England, but then spread to other European countries. Currently, breeding is actively practiced in the United States, England, Germany, the Netherlands, Thailand, Singapore, France, Australia, and Japan.

It is said that before the Meiji period, Cymbidium tracyanum was grown in the greenhouse of the Glover family in Nagasaki, but this is not known for certain.
