Hidetsuna Oyama

Japanese: 小山秀綱 - おやま・ひでつな

Year of death: March 1602
Year of birth: Unknown. A military commander in the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. Son of Takatomo. Caught between the Uesugi clan of Echigo and the Hojo clan of Sagami, he sought the survival of his clan by shifting between positions, but in 1576 (Tensho 4), his base, Oyama Castle, was captured by the Hojo clan. The castle was later returned to him as part of a peace treaty, but in 1576, Toyotomi Hideyoshi destroyed the Hojo clan (in the Siege of Odawara) and established control over the Kanto region, leading to his downfall and exile. <References> "Oyama City History" General History Vol. 1

戦国・安土桃山時代の武将。高朝の子。越後上杉氏と相模北条氏の間にあって,去就を変転させつつ家の存続を図ったが,天正4(1576)年北条氏に本拠小山城を攻略される。城はのち和睦により還付されたものの,同18年,豊臣秀吉が北条氏を滅ぼして(小田原攻め)関東支配を確立するにおよび没落,流浪した。<参考文献>『小山市史』通史編Ⅰ
