...A city in the Republic of Montenegro, in the southwest of Yugoslavia. Population 20,000 (1981). It is located on karst high ground at an altitude of 680m, with Mount Lovčen (1,749m) towering to the east. In the late 15th century, when the Ottoman Turkish army retreated, King Ivan Crnojević of the Zeta region (Montenegro region) moved his palace to this impregnable place and built a monastery (1484). Montenegro had a unique system in which the bishop controlled the secular and religious worlds, and the monastery also served as the government, but in 1847 King Njegoš II built a new royal palace and remodeled the town into the current layout. *Some of the terminology used in reference to the "Obodo Factory" is listed below.
