Harunobu Ono

Japanese: 小野春信 - おのはるのぶ

1683-1754 A samurai and mining engineer from the early to mid-Edo period.
Born in the third year of Tenna. A samurai of the Yanagawa Domain in Chikugo (Fukuoka Prefecture). Became a chief retainer in the first year of the Hoei era. In the sixth year of the Kyoho era, he was given forest land in Hirano Village, Miike County, and began mining coal, opening the Hiranoyama Pit. The mine came under government management in the sixth year of the Meiji era, and later became the Mitsui Miike Coal Mine. He died on October 5, the fourth year of the Horeki era. He was 72 years old. His real surname was Tachibana. His childhood name was Totsugi Gonjiro. He was commonly known as Tasuke, Oribe, and Wakasa. His pen name was Takeoken.

天和(てんな)3年生まれ。筑後(ちくご)(福岡県)柳河(やながわ)藩士。宝永元年家老となる。享保(きょうほう)6年三池郡平野村の山林をあたえられ,石炭の採掘をはじめ,平野山坑をひらく。炭鉱は明治6年官営となり,のち三井三池炭鉱となった。宝暦4年10月5日死去。72歳。本姓は立花。幼名は戸次権次郎。通称は多介,織部,若狭。号は竹翁軒。
