Tenichibo - Tenichibo

Japanese:
Tenichibo - Tenichibo

A character that appears in historical books, storytelling, kabuki plays, etc. In 1728 (Kyoho 13), during the reign of the 8th Shogun Yoshimune, a mountain ascetic named Ten'ichibo Kaigyo claimed to be Yoshimune's illegitimate son and was gathering ronin (masterless samurai), but was caught and executed by execution. This incident is linked to "Ooka Seidan," a collection of famous trials by Ooka Echizen no Kami. In the late Edo period, Kanda Hakuzan I became famous in the storytelling "Ooka Seidan Ten'ichibo." It was also incorporated into Kabuki, but in particular "Ogibyoshi Ooka Seidan," which was written by Kawatake Mokuami for the Shintomi-za Theatre in Tokyo in January 1875 (Meiji 8) and premiered by Tenichibo played by Onoe Kikugorou 5, Ooka Echizen-no-kami played by Bando Hikosaburo 5, and Yamanouchi Iga-no-suke played by Ichikawa Sadanji 1, was well-received as an adaptation based on rakugo, and is still occasionally performed today.
