External thread

Japanese: おねじ(英語表記)external thread
External thread
A screw with threads on the outer surface of a cylinder or cone. A male thread that is used in combination with a female thread (nut) is generally called a bolt. Cutting tools such as turning tools, thread milling cutters, dies, and chasers are used to machine male threads, and for mass production, rolling methods (→ thread rolling machine) are used. For female threads, turning tools, thread milling cutters, and taps are used, but rolling methods like those for male threads cannot be used.
