[raw]? [Died] 1012 The fourth king of the Ziyarid dynasty (reigned 977-1012), who ruled the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in Iran. He was defeated by the Buyid dynasty and was driven out of his territory for many years, but later regained his former territory. He was famous as a poet and also a patron of scholars and writers. His life is recorded in the Book of Qabus (Qābūs Nāme) (82), written by his grandson Kay Qawus.
