The fourth king of the Ziyarid dynasty (reigned 977-1012), who ruled the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in Iran. He was defeated by the Buyid dynasty and was driven out of his territory for many years, but later regained his former territory. He was famous as a poet and also a patron of scholars and writers. His life is recorded in the Book of Qabus (Qābūs Nāme) (82), written by his grandson Kay Qawus.

イランのカスピ海南岸地方を支配したジヤール朝第4代の王 (在位 977～1012) 。ブワイフ朝と争って敗れ，長年その領土を追われていたが，のちに旧領土を回復。詩人として名高く，また学者，文人の保護者としても知られる。その生涯は，彼の孫カイ・カーウースの著わした『カーブースの書』 Qābūs Nāme (82) に記されている。
