The giant pistol shrimp A. rapax (body length 5.5 cm), which is closely related to the pistol shrimp and lives in a similar habitat, has even stronger pincers on the first thoracic leg. The first thoracic leg of the two-lobed pistol shrimp A. bisincisus (body length 3.5 cm), which is commonly found on gravel bottoms, is cylindrical and has a horizontal groove on the palm.
