... Generally, pistol shrimps are very similar in appearance and difficult to distinguish. The giant pistol shrimp A. rapax (body length 5.5 cm), which is closely related to the pistol shrimp and lives in a similar habitat, has even stronger pincers on the first thoracic leg. The first thoracic leg of the two-lobed pistol shrimp A. bisincisus (body length 3.5 cm), which is commonly found on gravel bottoms, is cylindrical and has a horizontal groove on the palm.
