〘Noun〙 ("O" is a prefix) 1. An honorific used when a noble such as an Imperial family, a regent family, or a shogun goes out or comes to visit. It also refers to the procession of a portable shrine (mikoshi) . O-de-mashii. Arriving. Onnari. ※Hanaei Sandaiki - 2nd day of the first month, 1421 (28th year of Oei) "Visit of Hosokawa Ukyo-no-dayu Nyudo Dokan to the Kanrei" 2. Used in a joking manner to indicate the arrival of an important person or guest. ※Ukiyo-zoshi - Keisei-iro-shamisen (1701), Osaka "A bridge was built from the ryokan, and before the sand could be piled up, the person came here."
