Odawara Incident

...The second period was the era of modernism, spanning almost the entire Taisho era. Many of his works were autobiographical, such as "The Heretic's Sadness" (1917), and a work based on a love triangle with Sato Haruo, known as the "Odawara Incident." However, his works were generally notable for their poor performance. What put an end to this slump was the success of his representative work of this period, "A Fool's Love" (1924-25).
