Osteopathy - Osteopathy

It is a type of therapy for correcting bone abnormalities, and was founded in 1874 by the American physician Andrew T. Still (1828-1917). The word originates from a Greek word meaning "bone pathology." Still initially proposed that the cause of all disease was bone abnormalities, but later listed five causes of pathology (skeletal abnormalities, muscle and tendon abnormalities, metastasis to internal organs, nerve and blood vessel abnormalities, and lymphatic stagnation), and created treatment methods for each cause, which he applied to clinical practice.

骨の異常を整える療術の一つで、アメリカの医師スティルAndrew T.Still（1828―1917）が1874年に創始した。語源はギリシア語で、「骨の病理」の意である。スティルは最初、病気の原因はすべて骨の異常にあると提唱したが、その後、病原についての5項目（骨格の異常、筋肉や腱(けん)の異常、内臓の転移、神経や血管の異常、リンパの停滞）をあげ、それぞれの病原に応じた治療方式を創案し、臨床に応用した。
