Ogi Coast

Japanese: 小木海岸 - おぎかいがん

This coastline is located on the Ogi Peninsula in the southern part of Sado Island in western Niigata Prefecture. It is a national Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The coastline is highly varied, with wave-cut platforms, drowned valleys, and coastal terraces. The coast from Ogi to Sawasakihana is called Nansenkyo, and is particularly beautiful, with tourist boats departing from the area. The sea caves at Yajima, Kotoura, and Shukunegi are also famous. There is a white octagonal lighthouse at Sawasakihana at the tip of the coast, and pillow lava can be seen nearby. The sea area around Araya Cape belongs to the Ogi Marine Park district. It belongs to Osado Prefectural Natural Park and Sado-Yahiko-Yoneyama Quasi-National Park.

新潟県西部佐渡島の南部，小木半島にある海岸。国の名勝・天然記念物。海岸線は出入りが激しく，波食台，溺れ谷，海岸段丘など変化に富む。小木から沢崎鼻までの海岸は南仙峡と呼ばれ，特に景色が優れ，観光船が出ている。また矢島，琴浦，宿根木の海食洞は有名。先端の沢崎鼻には白色八角形の灯台があり，付近に枕状溶岩が見られる。新谷岬付近の海域一帯は小木海域公園地区に属する。小佐渡県立自然公園と佐渡弥彦米山国定公園に属する。
