...They have now disappeared, and only one each at Takuhi Shrine in Oki and Miho Shrine in Izumo are preserved as specimens. Many still remain on Oki until the early Showa period, and they were used for the fishing method known as Kanagi. They are about 5.8m long and 90cm wide at the shoulder, made of fir and shaped like split bamboo, and in the past they were all carved from a single log.
