…As a disciple of the Japanese mathematics scholar Hasegawa Hiroshi, he had a deep knowledge of Japanese mathematics history and lent his support to Endo Toshimasa and Mikami Yoshio in their research on the history of Japanese mathematics. He collected many Japanese mathematics books, which are kept at Tohoku University as the Okamoto Library. In his later years, he organized the collection of the Imperial Academy (Japan Academy), and posthumously published the Catalog of Japanese Mathematics (1932), which is used by researchers. …
