Ogai - Ogai

...A general term for three large species of snail shells in the Haliotidae family: Nordotis madaka (also called madaka), N. gigantea (also called megai), N. sieboldii (also called mengai or megai), N. discus (Japanese abalone) (illustration), and N. d . hannai (a subspecies of the black abalone). All of the shells are large, reaching 10cm or more, oval or elliptical, with low coils and the last coil being extremely wide and large.
