...After the title of Kanmu was changed to Tonomo no Kashira, the head of the clan inherited the position of Kanmu, and from the Kamakura period onwards, he also held the position of Tonomo no Kashira, and almost exclusively held both positions. At the beginning of the Kamakura period, Takamoto was temporarily dismissed from his position as Kanmu, and his brother Naganari's son Hirofusa took his place. This caused the clan to split into the Mibu family of Takamoto's lineage and the Omiya family of Hirofusa's lineage, and they fought over the position of Kanmu with the head of the clan. However, with the death of Omiya Iji in 1551 (Tenbun 20), the Omiya family was extinguished, and the Kanmu family returned to the Mibu lineage. The Mibu Kanmu family continued to lead low-ranking officials in the Edo period and supported the administration of court ceremonies and public affairs, but after the Meiji Restoration, they were ranked as members of the nobility and awarded the title of baron. ...
