A mountain located in the central and southern part of Hokkaido, a little south of the center of the Hidaka Mountains. It has an elevation of 1,600 meters. It is located on the border between Urakawa Town, under the jurisdiction of the Hidaka Subprefectural Bureau, and Taiki Town, under the jurisdiction of the Tokachi General Subprefectural Bureau, and is one of the most representative mountains of Hidaka. It is located in the center of the metamorphic belt that develops in the Hidaka Mountains, and is composed of mixed rocks. Its steep shape made it difficult to get close to, with a long approach, but the construction of Route 348 along the Motoura River has made it easier to climb. There are also mountains with the same name near Sapporo and in Utashinai City, but the latter is called Kamui-dake.
