The Ofunakoshi Isthmus, which separates the eastern Tsushima Strait, was excavated by the Mune clan in 1672 (Kanbun 12), and a canal was dug in 1900 at Kusubo (Manseki) Isthmus to allow the Japanese Navy to pass through. The latter, Manseki Seto, was used by the torpedo boat squadron of the Takeshiki Port Division when they set out for the Tsushima Strait during the Russo-Japanese War. …
