Loan Library - Kashidashi Bunko (English name) Collection for loan to groups
A type of library service provided to municipalities that do not have libraries or to areas where libraries are far away and cannot be used on a daily basis. Usually, libraries deposit a certain number of books with local public facilities or various organizations for a set period of time, allowing nearby residents to borrow books from there. Article 3, paragraph 5 of the Library Law also states that "patrolling lending libraries" is a library's duty. The purpose of a lending library is to deliver books to nearby areas for use as an alternative measure for residents who are unable to come to the library, but in reality, they are not used much due to the small number of books, limited selection, and a lack of privacy protection. It is often carried out as a form of group lending rather than a service to the local community. [See also] Group lending
