Oochawantake - Oochawantake

An edible mushroom of the Ascomycete family in the Chamaecyparis order. It is cup-shaped, but usually grows with several mushrooms pushing against each other, resulting in an irregularly distorted shape. It is 3-5 cm in diameter, whitish on the outside and light brown inside, where a sporangium develops and countless asci form. The asci are cylindrical and contain vertical rows of oval, colorless spores measuring 20-23 micrometers by 11 micrometers. It grows on rotten straw and in fields from spring to autumn. It is widely distributed, including in Japan and all over the world.

Japanese:

子嚢(しのう)菌類、チャワンタケ目チャワンタケ科の食用キノコ。茶碗形のキノコであるが、普通、数個が押し合って生えるので、形は不規則にゆがめられる。径3~5センチメートル、外面は白っぽく、内部は淡褐色で、ここに子実層が発達し、無数の子嚢が形成される。子嚢は円筒形、内部に、楕円(だえん)形で無色、大きさ20~23マイクロメートル×11マイクロメートルほどの胞子を縦一列に納める。春から秋にかけて、腐った藁(わら)、畑などに生える。分布は広く、日本をはじめ世界各地。
