Oochidome - Oochidome

A small perennial plant of the Umbelliferae family (APG classification: Araliaceae). The stem creeps long above the ground, and the branches stand up to a height of about 15 cm. The leaves are round, glossy, and shallowly incised. The flowers bloom from June to September in white heads with stalks longer than the leaves. It commonly grows in the mountains and fields from Hokkaido to Kyushu. It is also found on the Korean peninsula. It is named after the fact that it is larger overall than the Chidomegusa. It is also called Yamachidome. Nochidome H. maritima Honda is similar to this species, but the inflorescence stalks are shorter than the leaves.

セリ科（APG分類：ウコギ科）の小形の多年草。茎は地上を長くはい、枝は立ち上がって高さ約15センチメートルとなる。葉は円形で光沢があり、浅く切れ込む。花は6～9月、葉より長い柄のある頭状花序につき、白色。北海道から九州の山野に普通に生える。朝鮮半島にも分布する。チドメグサより全体が大形であるのでこの名がある。またヤマチドメともいう。ノチドメH. maritima Hondaは本種に似るが花序の柄は葉より短い。
