Cairn terrier

Japanese: ケアン･テリア[種]（英語表記）cairn terrier

It is a domestic dog and a pet dog that originated in the UK. The name cairn comes from the word for a cairn, meaning a stone mound or moraine, and it is said that this name was derived from the fact that this terrier is adept at driving wild animals out of caves and gaps in rock beds, and it is originally a hunting dog breed. It is the smallest of the working terriers and is the oldest type of terrier breed in Scotland. It has a cheerful personality, but is brave and courageous, and is agile in its movements. Its top coat is stiff and coarse, and the head is particularly long, while the undercoat is short but soft and dense.

原産地がイギリスの家庭犬，愛玩犬。cairnとは石塚とか堆石の意(ケルン)で，岩穴や岩床の間から巧みに野獣を追い出すテリアということからこの名称が生まれたといわれ，本来猟犬種である。ワーキング･テリアworking terriersのうちでは最も小型で，スコットランドの最も古いタイプのテリア種である。性格は陽気だが勇敢で度胸がよく，動作は敏しょうである。上毛は硬い剛毛で，頭部はとくに長く，下毛は短いが柔らかく密である。
